Tribute by Nieces & Nephews
“For this God is our God forever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.” Psalm 48: 14
“For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die,we are the Lord’s.” Romans 14:8
To our beloved Aunty, affectionately called Aunty Edith, we are consoled by the words of the scripture above, knowing well that even in death, you are with the Lord.
When the tragic news of your death was broken to us, we were shocked, and devastated. Your death has brought us great sadness because we have lost a person who was always there to love us with so much action, and affection. We didn’t spend enough time with you but we relish the few holiday moments we shared.
It is with heavy hearts that we stand here to bid you farewell to our cherished Aunty. To us, you were joy, kindness and laughter in human form. You always had a special way of calling us just to talk, just to hear our voices and somehow, you would end up being the one making us laugh. Even on your difficult days, you found humour. Even when you were tired, you found strength to encourage us.
Aunty Edith, one thing you never stopped doing was pushing us to learn. You would always tell us to take our books seriously and to dream beyond borders. You wanted us to travel, to see the world, to go outside the country and build better lives for ourselves. You believed in us deeply. You loved us completely and we never doubted it. We felt it in your words, your calls and your advice and in your laughter. As your nieces and nephews, we promise to carry your dreams with us. We will study hard. We will chase opportunities. Not just for ourselves, but for you.
Aunty Edith, you fought your battles with courage. While your body grew weak, your spirit remained strong. You endured sickness with strength and through it all, you kept your faith.
